Balasore: A youth was electrocuted at Saranga village under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district late last night while tying flags as a part of preparations for a workers’ rally of a particular political party.
The deceased has been identified as Akshaya Jena of Ranipada village. He came in contact with an 11 KV live electric wire while he was tying flags of the political party standing on the roof of a school.
Jena sustained injuries and fell off the roof. His associates rescued him and took him to the Balasore district headquarters hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Tension gripped the hospital premises this morning after the news of Jena’s death spread.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem and started investigation into the incident.
