Reported by Santosh Jagdev

Bhubaneswar, August 31:

Even though the Commissionerate police has intensified its checking and blocking across the capital city, two bike borne masked miscreants snatched a bag containing Rs 1.5 lakh from a trader in broad day light near the Satya Nagar branch of State Bank of India under Kharvel Nagar police limits on Saturday.

The victim, Akshay Kumar Baral (32) an electronics goods trader and resident of Delang in Puri district who sustained serious injuries after he fell off his bike was rushed to a nearby private hospital.

The incident took place at around 1 pm today, after Baral withdrew Rs 1.5 lakh from Axis Bank at Satya Nagar square and was on his way to his shop near Toshali Plaza. Two masked miscreants who were riding a number-less Black Pulsar bike intercepted him near the SBI Bank in the same locality and snatched away his bag.

“They snatched away the bag while I was driving and that led to my fall from the bike “, Baral said.

The Kharavel Nagar police are investigating into the matter.
