Top woman Maoist surrenders

Koraput, May 10:

A top woman Maoist cadre surrendered before the police in Odisha’s Koraput on Saturday afternoon, Police IG (south-western range) Yashwant Jethwa said today.

According to reports, the woman Maoist Walisi Mandangi, a resident of Rajengipadar village in Narayanpatna block in the district, joined the Communist Party of India – Maoist in 2009 and had received training in the use of different weapons, improvised explosive devices and landmines.

She is a central regional committee member of the banned outfit and is suspected to be involved in several crimes, Jethwa said.

The Odisha government had announced a cash reward of two lakh rupees for any information leading to her arrest, police sources said.
