The Sports and Youth Affairs department will organise the award giving ceremony for the Biju Patnaik Krida Puraskar, the highest sports award of Odisha, along with Biju Patnaik Bravery Award and the State Youth Award, at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar tomorrow.
The awards would be conferred by chief minister Naveen Patnaik in the presence of Sports and Youth Affairs minister Sudam Marandi.
Thirteen sports persons selected for the Biju Patnaik Krida Puraskar in the last four years from 2010 to 2013 and 33 selected for State Youth Award in the last five years from 2009-10 to 2013-14 would be awarded at the function.
Besides, three sports persons would be awarded for their excellence in daredevil sports.
The state government has announced that social activist Linkan Subudhi would be conferred with the Biju Patnaik Bravery Award for the year 2014.
The Biju Patnaik Krida Puraskar is conferred every year to the best sports person, best coaches and best sports journalist in recognition of their contribution to the development of sports while the State Youth Award is given to the youths for their excellence in art, literature, music and social service.
