Bhubaneswar, Dec 1:

There is no stopping of woes for comedy artist Tattwa Prakash Satpathy aka Papu Pom Pom, who recently landed in controversy for his remarks on Lord Jagannath, as tomatoes were hurled at his residence in Baramunda in Odisha capital today.

According to reports, activists of Hindu Sena staged protest in front of Papu’s residence opposing his remarks.

On being informed, Khandagiri police reached the spot and police forces have been deployed in front of his house.

In a related development, the Friends Foundation Trust lodged an FIR against the comedian at Puri Sea Beach police station today. Jagannath Sena had earlier lodged an FIR against Papu at the same police station.

Activists of Lulu Sena had yesterday thrown ink at Papu near Jharpada Flyover here when he was returning from shooting set in his car.

Notably, while performing stand-up comedy on stage during closing ceremony of Puri Beach Festival on November 28, Papu had said that basil (tulasi) leaves over which street dogs pee everyday are used in the rituals of Lord Jagannath. He further went on to say that those who utter ‘Jay Jagannath’ are sinners (papi).

Tension gripped the spot following the incident as several Lord Jagannath devotees present near the stage protested the act and created ruckus demanding public apology from Papu. Normalcy returned after Papu apologised for his remarks on stage.

Below is the video showing what Papu said at the festival and how he apologised:
