Bhubaneswar, Sept 3:
In view of the exploitation, torture and fraud that the migrant labourers from Odisha have had to face at workplaces in other states, the state government today announced a toll-free number which these labourers can call to register their complaints and grievances.
The toll-free helpline number is 155368.
“With this number, the migrant labourers can apprise the state government of their problems at their workplaces. If any complaint is received from any migrant labourer, the state government would provide immediate assistance to them”, said Labour and Employment minister Prafulla Mallick to the media here.
The minister also said that to provide more workdays to the people in the rural areas of Bolangir and Nuapada districts, where a maximum number of people migrate to other states during the lean season every year for work, the state government has decided to increase the workdays offered to people in these districts from 100 days to 150 days under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
