Toddler rescued from pond in Odisha’s Koraput; foul play suspected

Jeypore: In a shocking incident, a two and a half years old boy was rescued from a pond in Jeypore Town police station area of Koraput district today.

However, the identity and whereabouts of the child is yet to be ascertained.

Sources said an unidentified person rescued the drowning child from Jagannath Sagar pond near Panchanan temple in Jeypore Town and went away leaving the kid on the pondside. Finding the child in an unconscious state, another villager rescued him and admitted him to Jeypore hospital. His condition was stated to be critical till last reports came in.

However, it is yet to be ascertained whether the child had accidentally fallen into the pond or someone attempted to kill him.

On receiving information, police along with Child Line officials reached the spot and are investigating the incident from different angles.
