Titlagarh boils at 46.5 deg C, heat wave intensifies in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Western Odisha continued to reel under intense heat wave conditions with mercury hovering above 40 degree Celsius at 13 places today.

Titlagarh remained the hottest day in the state for the second consecutive day today with mercury touching 46.5 degrees Celsius. The Western Odisha town yesterday recorded 44.2 degree Celsius.

Bolangir boiled at 46.3 degree Celsius.

Besides, temperature hovered above 45 degrees Celsius in as many as three places today. Coal Town Talcher recorded 45.7 degree Celsius followed by Jharsuguda and Sambalpur at 45.2 deg Celsius each.

The capital city Bhubaneswar sizzled at 39.5 degree Celsius and Cuttack recorded a maximum temperature of 40.5 degree Celsius respectively.

The other towns which witnessed hot day today are Angul (40.2), Sonepur (44.8), Hirakud (45.2), Sundergarh (43), Jharsuguda (45.2), Sambalpur (45.2) and Chandbali (40.2).

The local meteorological department said there would be no respite from the scorching summer as heat wave condition is likely to prevail over some parts of the state for next couple of days.
