The students on being rescued were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Purushottampur, reports said. However, they were declared dead by the attending doctor.

The deceased students have been identified as Pankaj Sahu, Sandip Maharana and Saswat Behera. All of them hailed from Bhadrak town, reports added.

“I heard of such tragic incident having taken place. The incident is no way connected to the school. They had gone for picnic on their own. No teachers of the school are in any way connected with the incident. More details will emerge after others who had accompanied them return,” said Debasish Panda, principal in-charge Sunshine Mission School, Bhadrak.
