The accident occurred at the weekly market at Jamaguda in Chitrakonda area in the inaccessible cut-off area across Balimela reservoir, considered to be a ‘Maoist’ area, when the 11 KV wire of the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutkaran Yojna (RGGVY) accidentally got snapped, superintendent of police, Malkangiri, Akhileswar Singh said.

The injured are being treated at the nearby additional public health centre at Jodaamba. All the victims are tribals.

The place of occurrence being in the cut-off area, it will take at least 12 hours for health and police to reach the area , said local sources.
