Tension erupted in Patanibara area in Khordha district of Odisha after three persons, including a 13-year-old minor girl, were critically injured in a firing over tree-cutting issue today.


The injured have been identified as Mamata Pradhan (40), Rashmi Ranjan Pradhan (23) and Sashmita Pradhan (13).

The victims were rushed to Khordha District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as their health condition deteriorated.

According to reports, there was a longstanding dispute between Mamata Pradhan and Seshadev Shikari’s family following cutting of a mango tree.

It was scheduled to cut the disputed tree in presence of district administration officials today.

However, the two families resorted to quarrel following delay in arrival of the officials.

Seshadev lost his cool and started firing at Mamata’s family members injuring three.

The injured have been shot on abdomen, chest and leg.

Police reached at the spot and detained Seshadev with Manjulata Shikari and Basant Shikari.
