Three held for gang raping minor tribal girl in Odisha

Three youths including a minor boy were arrested today for gang raping a minor girl in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Friday evening.

Photo of accused Sources said a 13-year-old tribal girl of Sarubahal village under Bisra police station limits had gone to bring her book from her friend at a nearby place at around 7 PM on Friday. While she was returning home, three youths known to the girl, had intercepted her and had told her that they would accompany her and would drop her at her home.

However, the three youths forcibly took her to a field and raped her one after another. After raping her, the three youths had fled from the spot.

The girl, after reaching home, informed the incident to her family members.

On Saturday, the family members lodged a complaint with the Bisra police station.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested three youths today and seized a bike (OR-14X-0314) from their possession.

The arrested have been identified as Sanjit Oram (21) and Gopal Kerketta (26) of Sarubahal village while the third was not named because he is a juvenile..

“Of the three accused two of them will be forwarded to the court while the juvenile would be forwarded to the juvenile court”, said S Das, IIC, Bisra Police station.
