Bhadrak, Jun 17:
Three foreigners were detained by marine police near Dhamra port in Odisha’s Bhadrak district yesterday for using satellite phone on their way to the port.
Police have taken the trio– one Australian and two Filipinos— to an undisclosed location for interrogation, sources said. Their passport, visa and the satellite phone have been seized, sources added.
The captain of the ship was reportedly contacting Malaysia and Philippines through the satellite phone which is prohibited.
It may be recalled that ten Chinese nationals working at Dhamra port had left Odisha on Monday after they served with ‘Quit India notice’ to leave the country. These foreign nationals had business visas and were working for a Thai firm without having the requisite work visa.
