Bhubaneswar, Feb 27:
A 62-year-old man, his daughter and son-in-law were allegedly assaulted by some parking staff at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in the Odisha capital this morning.
The 62-year-old man, identified as retired Air Force Group Captain BS Dash, had gone with his daughter and son-in-law to the airport to receive their relatives.
As the family members were getting inside the car after receiving the relatives, parking rushed in and asked Dash to pay the parking charges
Dash reportedly refused to pay arguing that he could not take his car out within the 5-minute stipulation that would have exempted him from paying the fee because several vehicles were parked in front of his vehicle.
This led to an altercation between Dash and the parking staff during which the latter allegedly assaulted him and his family members.
Following the incident, the family members lodged a complaint with the Airfield police station.
“An airport visitor is exempted from paying the parking charge only if he comes out of the parking lot within five minutes. However, action will be taken against the staff who attacked them,” RR Sahu, IIC of Airfield Police Station, told OST.
