Bhubaneswar, Oct 26:
Crime Branch (CB) sleuths on Saturday arrested three persons of a family on the charge of fraudulently occupying 113 acres of Government land worth crores of rupees at Munduli near Baranga.
The accused Dhananjay Mohapatra, Suryanarayan Mohapatra and Jagannath Mohapatra, three brothers of Cuttack, were forwarded to court today, CB officials said.
According to CB DIG Rajesh Kumar, the General Administration (GA) Department in 2012 had requested the CB to probe a case related to fraudulent possession of 113 acres of Government land that worth crores of rupees in Munduli Mouza under Baranga Teshil.
During the investigation, it was learnt that one Ramadevi (who was no more), mother of the accused of Cuttack, had filed a case at the Joint Commissioner of Land Consolidation and Settlement Office at Cuttack claiming that the 113 acres of Government land belongs to her as they were paying taxes for the land since 1947 by producing forged documents in 2006.
The Joint Commissioner later forwarded the case to the Baranga Tehsil, who too disallowed the case after verification against the claim. In 2009, the Tehsil found that the land was possessed in a fraudulent manner and intimated the GA Department for suitable action against the accused in 2011.
“During the process of investigation by the GA and Baranga Teshil. three sons of Ramadevi – Dhananjay, Suryanarayan and Jagannath – along with one Uday Kumar Nanda, proprietor of Durga Developers of Cuttack had tried to sell off the land through plotting,” said the DIG.
“While verifying the documents given to us by the GA department, we found that three brothers along with Uday had planned to occupy the piece of land illegally by showing forged document. Today, we arrested three brothers while Uday is dead,” Kumar added.
All three accused were booked under section 120 (B), 420, 467, 468, 471, 167 of IPC.
