Bangalore, July 19:
Over a thousand students and guardians took out a protest rally in Bangalore this morning demanding stern action against the accused and the concerned school authorities over the alleged molestation of a minor girl student of Odisha inside the premises of an elite English Medium School in the city.
The protestors demanded the immediate arrest of the accused, who are still at large more than a fortnight after the incident.
According to reports, the shocking incident came to the fore after the girl, daughter of an Odia engineer working in the Karnataka government, informed her family members about the incident on Tuesday.
The six-year-old girl was allegedly molested by two gym instructors inside the school premises on July 2.
As soon as the incident came to light, irate guardians rushed to the school and ransacked office properties.
Earlier, the issue had triggered an uproar in the Karnataka Assembly with the members, cutting across party lines, demanding stern action against the accused and the concerned school authorities.
Expressing grave concern over the issue, Union HRD minister Smruti Irani has a sought a report from the state government.
On the other hand, the state government has requested the ICSE authorities to withdraw the affiliation to the school.
“The Centre should formulate a uniform protocol for all schools in the country to ensure the safety of these innocent children,” an irate guardian told the media.
