Cleantech Special Interest Group (SIG) of TiE Bhubaneswar Chapter, along with Canyon Consultancy Pvt. Ltd is organizing Odisha Solar Conference for the third consecutive year in the city on October 31.
For the first time, the event is being supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, organisers said.
Pranab Prakash Das, Odisha’s Energy Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the conference. The other dignitaries who will be present for inauguration are Dr Praveen Saxena, advisor to MNRE and Director General of National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) and RK Sharma, state’s Principal Secretary to Forest and Environment department, the organisers added.
The main topics for the discussion would be Solar Policy of Odisha, Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO), Solar City/Green Campus, experience sharing of State and Central Agencies and investors along with subjects covering both Grid-connected and Off-grid Roof-top and Mini-grid Solar applications, informed Chandrashekhar Mishra, a spokesperson for the organisers at a press meet here today.
Around 200 Delegates from both government and private sectors are expected to attend the conference, which shall continue till 5 PM in the evening, Mishra added.
During the last two editions of Odisha Solar Conference, various personalities from all across the globe came and shared their experience on Mega Solar Project in Spain, Biomass-Solar Hybrid project in Maharashtra, Gross-meter based Solar Project in Gandhinagar (Gujarat), RPO issues in Odisha, Solar manufacturing scenario, Trading of Renewable Energy Certificates and Funding options for Solar projects in India.
Odisha Solar Conference has been a great platform to give a boost to Odisha’s solar industry in all terms, Mishra said. He said one of the outcomes of the first Odisha Solar Conference was the announcement of the formation of Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Limited (GEDCOL) to install Solar and other RE projects with scale and speed in Odisha.
In the secnd Odisha Solar Conference, GEDCOL announced big plans to execute both large MW scale solar parks at various locations of Odisha and MW scale grid-connected Roof-top Solar projects in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.
