Kendrapara: The vehicular movement on Kendrapara-Saantasahi road was severely affected here today after the locals staged road blockade over power woes in their locality.

The angry protestors take to the streets against the frequent power cuts by burning tyres on the main road. They demanded installation of a transformer at Bada Mangala Chhak under Kendrapara Town Police limits.

According to reports, the locals suffered erratic power supply with 3-day-long unscheduled power cuts at some villages under Kendrapara Town Police limits.

The villagers threatened to continue the stir for indefinite period if the district administration fails to address the issue at earliest.

After the road blockade caused disruption in vehicular traffic, Tehsildar Hemalata Bahalia, SDPO Rajeev Lochan Panda and CESU officials rushed to the spot to convince the agitators.

The road blockade was cleared after the officials assured the villagers to sort out the issue temporarily and promised to install a power transformer at the locality.
