Ten persons have been arrested in connection with the abduction and murder of two persons, the skeletons of whom were found recently from a drain near K Nuagaon at Aska in Ganjam district of Odisha, police said today.
Police said all the accused persons, including the main accused Bhikari Sahu of Nimina and Sunil Nayak of Aska, were arrested from Purushottampur on Saturday.
The gang had kidnapped P Siba Shankar Dora (32), who worked in the CRPF camp at Bhanjanagar and his nephew P Digambar Dora (22) on March 20 for extortion and had later killed them before dumping the bodies in a drain at Aska, police said. The skeletons of the murdered uncle-nephew duo were recovered from a drain at Aska on April 10, police added.
“After kidnapping the two in the belief that they had huge money, the main accused Bhikari Sahu and Sunil Nayak allegedly assaulted them in a hill in Baragon near Aska and beat Digambar to death. After killing Digambar, the accused persons gunned down Siba Shankar,” said Narasingh Bhol, SP Ganjam.
After killing the duo, Sunil and Bhikari engaged some members of their gang to dump the bodies, the SP said adding they had also engaged their members to kidnap the duo from their village.
“The main accused – Sunil and Bhikari – have several cases of heinous crimes like murder, dacoity and extortion pending against them,” he added.
