Bhubaneswar, Oct 16:
The Akhila Bharatiya Rashtriya Sikshak Mahasangh has strongly protested the appointment of Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers as the registrars of universities.
In a release here, secretary of the Mahasangh’s Higher Education wing Narayan Mohanty said the state government has invited problems by appointing OAS officers as the registrars of universities in the past.
The appointment of these officers have resulted in further complications in the administration of the universities, he pointed out.
He also said that the government has set a bad trend by appointing elected office bearers of the government-recognised teachers’ bodies in administrative posts in the Higher Education department as these teachers have been misusing their position to harass those teachers who had opposed them at the time of the election.
Considering the above, the state government should not appoint such teachers, who are elected office bearers of teachers’ bodies, in the Higher Education department, he added.
