Phulbani, Oct 6:

Accusing Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik of presiding over a series of scams in the state, Union Tribal Affairs minister Jual Oram urged the people to use the by-poll to the Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat as an opportunity to teach Patnaik and his team a lesson.

“All BJD leaders, including their captain (Patnaik), are neck deep in corruption and scams. The people now have an opportunity to teach Patnaik and his team a lesson,” Oram said addressing a public meeting at Kotagarh while campaigning for the BJP candidate in the by-election.

The Union minister said the chit fund scam, the land scam and the mining scam have exposed the real face of the BJD government. He accused the BJD of looting the state in broad daylight.

Terming the BJD nominee Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh, a ‘foreigner’. Oram said; “Like her mentor, the Chief Minister of Odisha, she doesn’t know Odia. How is she going to serve the people when she doesn’t know their language?”

Seeking votes for his party candidate Rudra Madhav Ray, the Union minister said the government at the Centre had given sufficient funds for the development of tribals in the state and more funds would flow in future.

Campaigning for the BJD candidate Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh, Women and Child Development minister Usha Devi said; “Narendra Modi magic does not work in Odisha. This has been proved in the general elections four months ago. We are very sure that the BJD candidate Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh will win the by-polls.”

She said that the BJD has a single point agenda which is development and welfare of tribal people. The people had complete faith on Naveen Patnaik and this had been proved time and again, she said.

  1. People have already taught a lesson to MODI in Himachal. Ab ki Bar Odisha – Kandhamal. Juel Oram rather should have asked MODI “why he committed to bring back Black Money in 100 Days” and “Acche din kab aayega”. By increasing Railway fare, already AAM AADMI are in problem. Further committment from FEKU team is simply laughable.
