‘Project Jaldhaara’, a Rural Water Supply initiative by Tata Steel, was dedicated to the people of – Badapur, Patrapur and Sindhigaon villages under Luhajhar panchayat of Rangeilunda block of Ganjam district by Odisha’s minister for Higher Education, Science & Technology and State Rural Water Supply Dr. Pradeep Panigrahi today.
To make safe and piped drinking water available to each household in these villages, the steel major, under ‘Project Jaldhaara’, has installed three overhead water tanks along with four pump houses, pipeline covering 25 kms around 3 villages, 4 deep bore-wells and one intake well. The project will help more than 3000 inhabitants of these villages, which are part of Tata Rehabilitation Colony.
Gramvikas, a national level NGO partnering with Tata Steel for implementation of this project, will be in charge of the maintenance of these pump houses for the first three years, after which the maintenance work will be managed by ‘Jaldhaara Committees’ formed in each of the village.
Arun Misra, Vice President, Gopalpur Project, Tata Steel was present on the occasion.

Janakiamma, Samiti Sabhya, Luhajhar; Raju Reddy, Representative of Berhampur MP, Sushanta Mishra, Chief, Project Gopalpur, Tata Steel; R.K.Singh, Head, R&R, Tata Steel along with other senior officials of Tata Steel and members of Village Development Committees of Tata Rehabilitation Colony.
