Tata Steel would be the associate sponsor for the Hero Hockey Champions Trophy to be held at the Kalinga Stadium in the Odisha’s capital city from December 6 to 14.
A memorandum of understnading (MoU) to this effect was signed between Elena Norman, CEO of Hockey India and Manikanta Naik, Chief Resident Executive of Tata Steel here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Naik said Tata Steel has always patronized various different sporting activities in the state an elsewhere.
Stating that the company is proud of being associated with Hockey India, he said Odisha has produced several international hockey stars of which a majority hail from the tribal districts of the state.
“We would contribute Rs 1.5 crore for the event which we hope would be successful,” Naik said adding that the company has planned to nurture budding talents of the state by associating with the state government in future.
Describing the MoU as a beginning of new relationship with the Tata Steel that would grow further in future, the Hockey India CEO said the infrastructure at Kalinga Stadiium is excellent to host international matches.
“We have kept the ticket price very low to attract maximum spectators to enjoy the international matches here,” she said.
Among others, head, (Corporate Communication), Saumitra Pattnaik and other officials of Tata Steel were present on the occasion.
