Bhubaneswar, Jun 5:
The Odisha government today suspended an engineer for dereliction of duty in infrastructural work for Nabakalebara.
“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has suspended Saroj Das, project engineer of Odisha Water, Sanitation and Sewerage Board, for dereliction of duty,” a one-line statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said this afternoon.
Das, the Executive Engineer, Public Health, was sent on deputation by the state government as the Project Engineer to oversee water, sanitation and sewerage work in Odisha’s holy town of Puri ahead of the grand religious festival of Nabakalebara in July this year.
Infrastructure work for Nabakalebara has fallen far behind schedule and the suspension of the engineer is meant to serve as a warning to other officials to speed up work.
