The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested the Arjun tank with a tank-to-tank firing at Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) in Chandipur Integrated Test Range (ITR), today.
The test firing was conducted in two phases first at 11:30 am and the second, an hour later.
The ammunition was fired from the indigenously developed main battle tank (MBT) Arjun to Russian T55 tank.
This was the first time that such a test is being conducted in the country.
Arjun tanks has been very useful to the Indian Army in driving cross-country over rugged sand dunes, detecting and accurately hitting both stationary and moving targets with accuracy.
The Arjun tanks entered service with the Indian Army in 2004.
