Bhubaneswar, Nov 30 :
Talcher MLA Brajakishore Pradhan who was injured in Friday’s violence at the Jagannath Colliery railway siding on Friday, has been arrested from his residence here, reliable sources said.
However, the local as well as the state police sources remained tight-lipped over the matter.
The MLA’s hand phone has been switched off for hours now and it has not been possible to establish contact with him.
The Angul district Congress president Pratap Chandra Pradhan has condemned the move and warned of bigger trouble if he is not set free immediately.
The Congress leader addressing a press conference in Angul said the MLA has been fighting for the local people’s right to employment and protesting against the unjust retrenchment of workers who have been employed at the railway siding for over a decade.
“The law and order situation is being allowed to deteriorate through such anti-people move by the government,” he said.
A reliable source told OST that the government is considering leveling serious charges against the MLA so that he can be booked under the National Security Act ( NSA).
