Bhubaneswar: With the number of swine flu affected persons increasing by each day, the avian influenza claimed its first victim in Odisha today.
As per official sources, a 53-year-old man admitted to a private hospital in capital city succumbed today while undergoing treatment.
One person has died of swine flu infection at a private hospital while undergoing treatment, Director of Health Services Chandra Dash said.
The patient A Anil Kumar hailing from Visakhapatnam was admitted to a private hospital in Unit IV area here.
On the other hand, Health Minister Pratap Jena today announced that free treatment would be provided to swine flu afflicted patients.
On the other hand, eight more persons have been tested positive for the deadly influenza. Seven women of eight persons tested positive taking the number of infected persons to 32.
So far, 174 samples have been sent to the laboratory of which 32 have been found positive for H1N1 virus.
Notably, six more persons were tested positive yesterday taking the number of infected persons to 24.
