Suspected Maoists abduct two Dongria Kondhs in Odisha

A day after a Red rebel was killed and two others were reportedly injured in an exchange of fire with security personnel during a combing operation at Niyamgiri forest near Dangamati village under Kalyansinghpur police station limits in Odisha’s Rayagada district, suspected Maoists today abducted two Dongria Kondh men from Niyamgiri area.

The two members of the particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG) have been identified as Shyama Sikaka of Dangamati village and Ludu Wadeka of Khamesi, sources said.

According to sources, the members of the outlawed group have reportedly abducted the duo suspecting them to be police informers.

Yesterday, a Maoist was killed and two others were seriously injured in the exchange of fire in the wee hours.

Notably, two 9 mm pistols, a gun, huge cache of arms and ammunition; Maoists literature were among the materials seized from the spot after the combing operation in the forest on Kalahandi-Rayagada border.
