Mumbai, Nov 15:
Sushree Pradhan’s spectacular all-round show went in vain as the Odisha Women’s Under-19 team went down by just four runs in their one-day match against the Mumbai eves here on Friday.
Chasing a just 108, the Odisha eves looked good to overhaul the target on the strength of a 71-run partnership between Pradhan (45) and Sunita Murmu (29) for the sixth wicket after five wickets for 30. But another collapse saw Odisha end up four short of the target. Incidentally, Pradhan and Murmu were the only two Odisha batswomen to reach double figures. For the hosts, MM Gavande scalped 4/22 while PP Naik and Saniya Raut took two wickets each.
Earlier, Pradhan demolished the much stronger Mumbai batting line up with a stunning performance (6/11 off 11.5 overs) with the ball to restrict the hosts to 108. Interestingly, just like the Odisha batting later, the Mumbai innings too had just two batswomen who reached double figures – opener HV Borwankar and No 5 HP Patel scoring 25 apiece.
After winning the toss, Mumbai elected to bat.
