To keep a close eye on activities inside the campus premises the number of CCTV cameras has also been increased from 20 to 52.

According to reports, students had locked the administrative office on September 14 demanding transfer of head of the MCA department.

Taking disciplinary action on the incident, the university had rusticated four students–one student for two years and other three for one year each–following which students had resorted to protest.

Since then, tension has prevailed inside the campus since four days demanding cancellation of the order.

Following this, Vice-Chancellor formed a Campus Disciplinary Squad today comprising of 40 senior and experienced professors to put the situation under control.

The squad will be engaged in patrolling across the campus in evening hours and conduct raids in the hostels. The authorities have made mandatory for the students to show identity cards to enter into hostels.

“The office is functioning as usual and has not been locked. Students have resorted to protest demanding transfer of head of the MCA department. A committee has been formed to investigate the allegations made by them. Action will be taken after the committee submits its report,” said Vice-Chancellor Prakash Chandra Sarangi.

“Four students have been punished after screening of the CCTV footage for locking the administrative office. One student has been rusticated for two years and other three for one year each. Surveillance system has been tightened in the campus. Outside students are not being allowed into the campus in evening hours and raids are being conducted in hostels,” he added.
