Khurda, Mar 20:

The root of superstition is so deep in Indian society that educated youths could not be out of the belief system. Such an incident was reported in Odisha’s Khurda district where a 19-year-old youth slashed his tongue in a temple to appease the deity.

The boy was identified as Deba Taras. He was found lying in a pool of blood at the Chandeswar temple in the wee hours of Monday.

He has been admitted to the Capital Hospital in critical condition.

According to reports, Deba, a Plus Three student of Kuhudi College in Khurda district, was lying down before the deity at the Chandeswar temple in past eight days to fulfill his wish. Later, he slashed his tongue with a sharp weapon as an offering to god yesterday night.
