The death toll due to sun stroke in Odisha rose to 40 today.
The office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) today said out of a total of 159 deaths reported in the state, 40 have been confirmed as sunstroke deaths while investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the remaining 119 deaths by the district collectors.
As per the weather bulletin this evening, Sambalpur recorded the highest temperature in the state at 41.4 degree Celsius today.
Temperature remained at 40 degrees and above in Angul (40.1), Jharsuguda (40.5) and Hirakud (40.7).
The local Met office, however, has predicted rainfall in most parts in North Odisha and some parts in coastal Odisha in the next five days till June 13 after which rainfall will be mre widespread in most parts of the state.
