Jeypore, Apr 3:
The ruling BJD in Odisha which has the maximum number of Ollywood actors in its camp , has had to fall back on Bollywood star Suniel Shetty to campaign for its candidates.
The Bollywood actor Shetty was seen holding road shows in Jeypore in Odisha’s tribal dominated Koraput district. He was campaigning for BJD candidate and School and Mass Education minister, Rabinarayan Nanda.
Shetty said he was overwhelmed by the crowd and its response towards him. He said he has come here not as an actor but as ‘Rabiji’s friend’. The actor hoped that the party and ‘Rabiji’ will do well in the elections. He will be holding road shows in two more places in the district.
It may be recalled here that Suniel Shetty and Raveena Tandon had campaigned for independent candidate Jitu Patnaik in the Champua assembly constituency in 2009.
Jitu Patnaik, a sitting MLA, joined the BJD recently before the Rajya Sabha elections in the state. He however, was not favoured with a ticket by the ruling BJD which chose to field Papu Pom Pom, the popular comedian in Champua.
