New Delhi, Jan 18 :
CCTV footage at the hotel where union Minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar was found dead has been gathered by the police, an official said Saturday.
Police have also questioned the hotel staff.
Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Minister of State for Human Resource Shashi Tharoor, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her room at The Leela Palace hotel in south Delhi Friday.
Her death came barely 24 hours after the two declared they were “happily married” following public airing of tweets that hinted at an extra-marital relationship and alleged involvement of a Pakistani woman.
“The records of telephonic calls made by Sunanda Pushkar, both from her cell phone and the land line phone of room number 345 (where she and Shashi Tharoor had checked in a day before) have been collected,” a police official told IANS.
Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have also picked up evidence from the room.
According to police, between 8-8.30 p.m., Shashi Tharoor entered his hotel room. He found that the main hall of the suite was open but her bedroom was locked from inside.
Tharoor, who had attended the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session earlier in the day, took the help of a “swipe card” to open the room, said police.
Doctor’s panel for Sunanda’s postmortem
A three-doctor panel was constituted Saturday to conduct the postmortem examination of union Minister Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar, who was found dead Friday night in a hotel here.
An official of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said: “A panel of three senior doctors has been set up to conduct the postmortem of Sunanda Pushkar. The postmortem will be conducted soon.”
The official said during the autopsy, videography and photography will also be done.
“If anything needs to be shared with media it will be informed. It is expected that an initial postmortem brief will come around 6 p.m. Saturday,” the official added.
Sunanda Pushkar, 52, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a suite at The Leela Palace hotel in south Delhi.
There was speculation over their relationship after the two declared they were “happily married” following public airing of tweets that hinted at an extra-marital relationship and alleged involvement of a Pakistani woman.
Shashi Tharoor doing fine
Meanwhile, Shashi Tharoor was admitted to AIIMS early Saturday after he complained of chest pain. Tharoor was initially admitted to the ICU as a precautionary measure but was later shifted to a private ward.
Doctors said he is stable now and will be discharged later in the day.
