Bhubaneswar, Jan. 15:
Eminent neurosurgeon of Institute of Medical Sciences and Sum Hospital Dr Sureswar Mohanty would be conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Neurosciences Society of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand at its annual meeting to be held at Bareilly on February 9 next.
Prof Mohanty had served the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) for 33 years before his superannuation there as Director. During this period, he had served a large number of patients in eastern UP, western Bihar and Nepal.
He has already received four awards at the national level instituted by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), Medical Council of India (MCI), Neurological Society of India (NSI) and National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) for his research work.
He was President of the UP Neurosciences Society and Neurotrauma Society of India and guided 30 students to get their M.Ch. degree in neurosurgery.
The BHU had deputed him as visiting professor to reputed institutions like the Institute of Neurosurgery, London, Burdenko Institute, Moscow, Cleveland Clinic, USA and to several other countries.
