On the eve of Devasnana Purnima, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a sand sculpture of Lord Jagannath with Daru at Puri beach in Odisha on Monday.
He has sculpted a 7-ft high Daru of Lord Jagannath bathed by pitcher of water. He has used about 7 tons of sand and also some coloured sand to create this sculpture. Students of his sand art school joined hands with him to complete the sculpture.
” On every occasion of Nabakalebara, I have created a sand sculpture at Puri beach . I will keep creating sand sculptures on different occasion leading up to the Car Festival,” said Sudarsan on the occasion.
Devasnana Purnima is an inseparable part of the famous Ratha Yatra of Puri. This day, the full-moon day of the month of Jyestha, the deities are bathed in 108 pitchers of water of the well situated near the Sitala temple in the confines of the Jagannatha temple.
