Students kidnap, thrash college lecturer in Odisha’s Angul

Angul: In an incident tarnishing the teacher-student relationship in the society, a lecturer of Angul government college was allegedly abducted and thrashed by some students today.

According to reports, 4-5 students forcibly took Philosophy lecturer Pradyumna Beura with them when he was taking classes and beat him before dropping him at Hulurusingha.

He was later rescued by police in a critical condition and hospitalised.

On the basis of a complaint filed by the teacher with Angul police, a case has been registered against Srikant Nayak, a +3 final year student of the college, and his associates.

The incident has been captured on a CCTV camera and the footage of which has been seized by police for investigation.

The students went absconding after committing the act. Efforts are on to nab them, reports said.

Though the exact reason behind the attack on the teacher by the students is yet to be ascertained, reports said the latter might have done so as the lecturer had stopped them from malpracticing in exam.
