In the backdrop of the Vigilance probe ordered by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik into the sting operation, the four MLAs of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today welcomed the party supremo’s decision.
“We welcome the Vigilance probe into the sting operation. As we belong to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe category, we are being targeted. We hope that truth will come out in the probe ordered by Chief Minister,” the legislators said in a joint press release issued today.
A sting operation aired by a news channel has linked us. It has become utmost necessary to ascertain the background and motive of the operation. Besides, the motive of the person/persons involved in the operation should also be brought to the fore, they added.
The MLAs—Susant Kumar Behera (Chhendipada), Seemarani Nayak (Hindol), Anam Nayak (Bhawanipatna) and Bijay Kumar Nayak (Karanjia)—issued the press release barely minutes after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a Vigilance probe into the sting operation where its party leaders were seen asking for money to facilitate setting up of industries in their respective constituencies.
