The Steel City police on Wednesday nabbed two young people from their residences for allegedly killing a retired school teacher of Chhend Colony on December 6 this month. The prime accused in the case, however, is still absconding.
The accused persons identified as Dillip Oram (20) of Purunapani Township under Hatibari police limits and Sushil Kumar Mallik (20) of Sector-16 under Sector-15 police limits, both of Sundargarh district were booked under section 302 of IPC and forwarded to the local court today, police sources said.
Dillip was studying in Rourkela Municipal College while Sushil, was a student of Jharsuguda Technical College.
The duo on December 6 had throttled Shiv Kumar Nanda, a retired school teacher to death while he was alone at his house, LCR/527 , in Chhend Colony, police said.
After committing murder they took away Rs 1.20 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, a bank pass book and two mobile phones from the deceased’s house.
The matter came to light after the retired teacher’s brother Budheswar Nanda registered a case on the same day at the local police station.
During investigation, two accused were arrested and cash of Rs 62,462 and two mobile phones were recovered from their possession, police sources said, adding, investigation is on to nab the prime accused in the murder case.
