The Right to Food Campaign will hold a state-level consultation meeting on “National Food Security Act, 2013” (FSA) , which has guaranteed the food security to eligible people including women and children in the country, its conevnor Pradip Pradhan said in a press release today.
The day-long consultation will take place at Red Cross Bhawan on February 20, the release said.
It may be mentioned here that the FSA will be enforced within one year by the state government after the rules are framed for implementing the basic provisions of the Act.
Stating that the effective implementation of the Act depends on dynamic rules, proper administrative arrangements and requisite budgetary provisions Pradhan rued that the state government has not yet sought public participation in the matter nor any public consultation beyond asking for suggestions on the exclusion criteria for implementation of the Act.
Pradhan in his release said, the Right to Food Campaign is holding the state-level consultation to finalise the list of suggestions to the state government with regard to the measures required for effective implementation of the Act.
Policy makers, Representative of political parties, advocates, journalists, subject experts, human rights activists will be part of the consultation exercise, the release added.
