Bhubaneswar, Aug 30:
The Speaker in the Odisha Assembly Niranjan Pujari will meet Governor SC Jamir at 11 am tomorrow. Though there is no official word on the agenda for the meeting, it is reliably learnt that the running of the House by the Speaker during the just concluded monsoon session of the Assembly would figure prominently during the talks.
It may be noted that 13 Congress legislators had met the Governor and submitted a memorandum to him accusing the Speaker of partisanship in running the House.
Both Congress and BJP members had sat on a dharna below the Speaker’s table on Thursday after their objections to certain clauses in the Odisha Land Grabbing Bill were not taken into account. They alleged that the voice of the Opposition was being muzzled and democracy was being murdered and trooped out of the House after the Speaker allowed the discussion on the Bill to continue despite their objections.
Both Congress and BJP members boycotted the last two days of the monsoon session during which the House passed several Bills including the Odisha Land Grabbing (Prevention) Bill and Odisha Police Bill, 2015.
