BHUBANESWAR, July 27
Congress Supremo Sonia Gandhi is likely to visit Odisha sometime in September, a month after AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Odisha in August, PCC president Jayadev Jena revealed today.
“I met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and requested her to visit Odisha. Madam is likely to come in September,” said PCC chief Jayadev Jena, who met Gandhi at 10, Janpath, New Delhi recently.
The PCC chief said among the issues he discussed with the party chief were the farmers’ rally to be held in three zones of the state. “She also asked about the death of nine new-born babies in Burla hospital,” he said.
Jena said several Union Ministers are scheduled to visit Odisha in the next few days to review various projects and schemes in the state. Besides, many senior party leaders would also visit the state to rejuvenate the party organisation, he said.
Two Union ministers Veerappa Moily and Srikant Jena are currently in the state. Union ministers Sachin Pilot and KV Thomas had visited the state and addressed Congress leaders at the party office recently.
