It was a sombre gathering as the members of Odisha Television Artist Association (OTA) gathered on 16th February at Hotel Padmini in Rasulgarh and bade adieu to their friend and co-actor Ranjit Patnaik, fondly called ‘Raja’.
A silent condolence meeting was held with two minutes of silent prayers on the Ekadasha (eleventh day) of the deceased Raja. The President, Secretary and many actors from OTA and Ollywood paid respect to the departed soul.
OTA President Uttam Mohanty in his condolence speech praised the Uansi Kanya actor and said it was a great loss to the odia telly industry. Bidusmita (actor) tearfully related to how Raja, who was also the joint- secretary of OTA, was always ready to help anyone in any situation.
Bhagwan (actor) a very close friend of Raja, in his farewell speech commented that it was still a case shrouded in mystery and should be investigated thoroughly. Other actors expressed their grief and said that if Jessy was found guilty then she should be punished.
It may be recalled that TV actor Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja died while returning from a cultural event in Balasore on Feb 7 and his co-actor and friend Jessy has been charged with abetment to suicide in the case.
