Puri, Jun 26:
A day after placing them under suspension, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Odisha’s holy town here issued a show-cause notice to the two suspended servitors on Thursday seeking their reply as to why action should not be taken against them over the gross irregularities in the ‘Brahma Parivartan’ rituals of the deities.
SJTA Chief Administrator, Suresh Chandra Mohapatra issued show-cause notice to the two Daitapatis – the father-son duo of Kashinath Das Mohapatra and Jayakrushna Das Mohapatrawho – who were placed under suspension on Wednesday evening for the mismanagement in the Lord Jagannath’s ‘Brahma Parivartan’ rituals.
“The two Daitapatis have been served show-cause over the delay in ‘Brahma Parivartan’ rituals issue,” Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said.
The father-son duo was suspended for the chaos that led to the inordinate delay in the ‘Brahma Parivartan’ ritual of the deities of the Shree Jagannath temple.
The temple administration suspended them from Daita Seva since yesterday evening for an indefinite period under section 21 (B) of the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1954.
Meanwhile, the SJTA has decided to offer prashad to Sadhus inside the temple premises to mark the 13th day of the burial of the old idols of Lord Jagannath and His siblings on June 27.
Notably, a community feast was planned for lakhs of devotees outside the temple premises along the Grand Road (Bada Danda). However, it was cancelled by the SJTA apparently due to donations falling short of expectations.
Further, the administration today also decided to return the donations raised from the devotees for the 13th day mass feast of the deities.
