Six city hotels to lose their bar licence

Taking exception to the appointment of women in the bars of some hotels and restaurants in the twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in Odisha , a joint meeting of the city commissionerate police and the Excise commissioner held here today decided to take appropriate action.

The meeting decided to strictly enforce section 25 of the Bihar-Odisha Excise Act-1915 on appointment of women at the hotels, restaurants, clubs and bars.

“We have shortlisted the bars at six hotels in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and recommended the state government for cancellation of their license”, Excise commissioner Ashok Tarenia told reporters after the meeting.

Among others, police commissioner Dr RP Sharma and senior Excise officials were present at the meeting.
