Puri: At least six persons were arrested in connection with alleged gang rape of a Kolkata woman for over 10 days at Konark in Odisha’s Puri district, police said today.
Sources in the police said the six people were arrested after Konark Police, Gop police and Ramchandi police conducted raids at various lodges in the district.
The police produced all of them before Konark JMFC, which sent them to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the police have been searching for other accused in the sensational case.
Notably, a woman from West Bengal’s Howrah area was rescued by the police and locals from a closed room at a market complex in Konark here October 17.
The woman had told Konark police that she was lured to Odisha on the pretext of a job one year ago but later she was raped by more than 10-12 men and forced into prostitution.
The matter is still under investigation.
