Bhubaneswar, Jan 29:

Two days after a youth was beaten to death on the outskirts of Odisha capital, Twin City Commissionerate police today arrested a sibling duo in connection with the Bankuala murder.

According to reports, Twin City Commissionerate police today arrested Kanhu Pradhan and his brother Balaram Pradhan for their alleged complicity in the murder.

The accused reportedly picked up a quarrel with Susant over pasting of panchayat poll posters on the walls of betel shop run by the duo.

The deceased Susant Nayak was allegedly mercilessly beaten on Friday. Susant’s family members spotted him on the wee hours yesterday and shifted him to Capital Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Following this, residents of Bankuala village on outskirts of the city staged a road blockade on Puri bypass road yesterday demanding compensation to the kin of the deceased and arrest of the culprits behind the incident.

The vehicular movement was affected on the route for over two hours. However, the blockade was lifted after assurance from senior officials that the culprits would be brought to books.

Saheed Nagar police is probing into the case.
