Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Feb 23:

Odisha police have detained one accomplice, while two main accused are still absconding, in the Press Colony firing incident here where two youths were shot at and seriously injured on Sunday night.

Police have detained the owner of the motorbike, Lulu Biswal, as the vehicle was used by the duo in the attack on Kamalakanta Mohanty, a chicken shop owner and his friend Madhusudan Nayak.

The accused Manoj and Pintu of Shantipalli slum under Kharavel Nagar police station limits had used the bike of Lulu Biswal to flee from the crime scene after firing at Kamalkanta Mohanty and Madhusudan Nayak .

Kamalkanta Mohanty and his friend were sitting in his shop when the accused came on a bike and shot them. Kamalkanta has received three bullet injuries while Madhusudan received one. Both have been admitted to hospital.

Kamalkanta’s father Bhikari Charan Mohanty has said that the accused held a grudge against his son after they had a fight with each other four months ago. They had been arrested after a police complaint and forwarded to court.  After they were released on bail, they used to throw stones at his son’s shop and their home, he alleged.

Police are conducting raids at various places to arrest both the prime accused.
