Malkangiri, Jan 29:
In yet another shameful instance in the continuing saga of sexual exploitation of minor girls in residential schools, 10-12 class V girl students of the Kendriya Vidyalaya here lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday about being subjected to indecent behaviour by their computer and physical education teachers.
Sources said these class V students were allegedly subjected to indecent behaviour by their Computer teacher on a regular basis. They had complained about it to the PET who, instead of initiating action against him, had rebuked them and subjected them to similar behaviour.
More shockingly, these students had also complained to the principal of the school but no action was taken against the erring teachers. With no hope of any redressal by the school authorities, they finally lodged a complaint with the local police station on Tuesday.
The inspector in-charge of the local police station said 10 to 12 children had come to him and lodged complaints of sexual harassment against the concerned teachers. He said the statement of the victims and their parents had been recorded and investigation was on.
The Principal of the school, however, has denied any knowledge of such happenings in his school. If the allegations were found to be true, such persons would not be allowed to work as teachers under any circumstances. “They are a blot on the society,” he said.
