Three days after the arrest of Itishree Mohapatra, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) and Sukanti Panda, director of Santwana Sudhara Gruha in connection with the rape of a tribal girl, police on Friday arrested the superintendent of Bapuji Seva Sadan, Namita Sahu from near Remuna police station in Odisha’s Baleswar district.
A police team led by Nilagiri SDPO Swapneswar Mohapatra arrested Sahu and produced her in a local court. The court later remanded her to jail after rejecting her bail plea.
She was arrested on the charge of not provide adequate protection to the victim during her stay in Bapuji Seva Sadan, police said.
“The accused has been arrested under section 376 (2)(d)(1)(d) of the IPC and 318/18 under section 6 of POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, 2012”, the SDPO said.
As per the complaint lodged by the minor girl with the Nilargiri police station in August, 2013, she was repeated raped by Goura Chandra Khamari, former director of Bapuji Seva Sadan. But the police had not taken any action.
